Alan Penny is a male counsellor and psychotherapist. He runs workshops for counsellors, student counsellors and other health professionals in SAND TRAY THERAPY, TRAUMA FOCUSED CBT, BEREAVEMENT also SUDDEN DEATH and DISASTER.

Alan also has the privilege of working with those effected by Homicide attached to VICTIM SUPPORT (Homicide Division) and the Ministry of Justice, throughout the UK as a Trauma and Bereavement Therapist. Alan works as an integrative counsellor involving person centred, humanistic, existential and cognitive behaviour therapy with an evidence based approach, as well as from a transactional analysis perspective all depending on the issues and concerns of the client.
He is a member of BACP as well as a former accredited member of the BHA (British Humanist Association) and is now a member of the AOIC (Association of Independent Celebrants) working as a funeral and wedding celebrant, offering tailor made personal services.
He is also a member of the ESSTS (European Society for Trauma and Stress Studies) and UKPTS (United Kingdom Psychological Trauma Society) studying Traumatology and strives to continue to develop his professional knowledge in order to provide a professional, ethical and caring service to all his clients.
Training, Qualifications & Experience: Advanced Diploma in Humanistic and Existential counselling, certificate in CBT and certificate in evidence based therapy from the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre and the Oxford Trauma and Stress centre. He is also trained in EMDR. (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) and holds a Psychotraumatology Certificate with the European Society for Trauma and Stress Studies and studied Psychology at Warwick University.
